Glossary / Definition

With our glossary, we would like to give you an overview of how a money counting machine works. Because there are many meanings as well as functions, which can play an important role on the way to the suitable money counting machine. In order to provide you a better understanding on the way to a suitable money counting machine, several terms are explained in more detail below.


Counterfeit detection
Counterfeit detection

With the coin detection system CoinSAFE and special sensors, foreign coins can be reliably detected (e.g. via the alloy or their diameter) and sorted out into a separate coin compartment.

3D-Format detection
3D-Format detection

The width and height of the banknotes are detected with the 3D-Format detection (width size detection). This feature supports the sorting of suspicious banknotes whose size does not meet the standard.

PC-Connection
PC-Connection

The software connection enables to connect the counterfeit detector to the PC. In this case, detection results can be transferred to the PC. With special software solutions, the detection results can be managed, stored or printed out with the computer.

Printer
Printer

With the printer, the counting results can be printed and recorded conveniently and reliably after each counting process.

Detection speed per banknote
Detection speed per banknote

The detection speed defines the time to detect one Banknote for counterfeits by the machine.

Example:
0,5 seconds
In this example, the machine detect one banknote in 0,5 seconds.

Mobile application
Mobile application

The machine has a battery and / or a power adapter for cigarette lighters (12V). This enables the mobile use of this machine.

Spectral analysis
Spectral analysis

At the spectral analysis, the colour of each bill is measured and evaluated. The method of colour identification is used to obtain a more accurate counting result in counting mixed bills.

Automatic start
Automatic start

If a banknote is fed to the device, it recognizes this by its hopper sensor. The counting process starts automatically and the banknotes are counted.

Double note detection
Double note detection

The double note detection is used to achieve a more precise counterfeit detection result. For this purpose the light transmittance of the individual banknote is measured. If more than one banknote is detected (e.g. glued notes), the detection operation is automatically stopped.

Counterfeit detection
Counterfeit detection

With the integrated counterfeit detection it is possible to detect up to 10 security features on banknotes simultaneously. If the values of a banknote are not in the standard, the banknote is recognized as suspicious. If a suspicious banknote has been detected, this is indicated by a tone and a message in the display.

Addition function
Addition function

Each detected banknote is added to the number of already detected banknotes on the display. In addition, the respective value is added to the total result.

Manufacturer of devices for cash processing have the opportunity to test your devices on the integrated counterfeit detection at the European Central Bank. Results of the certified devices can be found on www.ecb.int.

Single counting
Single counting

Here the number of banknotes is determined, a valuation of the bills is not made. Sheet counting is suitable for counting unmixed notes.

Stacker capacity

The stacker capacity is the maximum number of banknotes that can be counted in a process or found space in the banknote stacker.

Sorting out of foreign currencies

By the help of the coin recognition system CoinSAFE, foreign coins or counterfeit coins are reliably sorted out in a separate coin pocket.

Mixed value counting
Mixed value counting

With the mixed value counting or also called value counting, banknotes can be counted mixed. The machine determined when counting, the value of notes and shows the total amount at the display, for example 2.640 Euro.

Magnetic code detection
Magnetic code detection

The detection of the magnetic code (security thread) is used to determine the value of the banknote. This method is very accurate and supports the counterfeit detection of banknotes.

MCD-Detection

With the MCD-Detection, the incorporated "magnetic code" is examined on the metal thread in the middle of the banknotes. This very accurate method of authentication can detect suspicious banknotes very reliable.

Reject-Pocket
Reject-Pocket

This principle opens up new possibilities in banknote processing. If the machine recognizes a suspected or foreign banknote, this note will be sorted out without stopping the counting progress in the Reject-Pocket. All genuine banknotes will be given out in the normal output tray and added together at the end to the overall result. By using machines with Reject-Pocket an almost stop-free counting process is possible.

Counterfeit detection

With the integrated counterfeit detection, it is possible to detect up to 10 security features on banknotes simultaneously. If the values of a banknote are not in the standard, the banknote is recognized as suspicious. The counting process is interrupted or the banknote is sorted out.

UV-Counterfeit detection

By using the UV-Counterfeit detection banknotes can be checked for authenticity. Here the ultraviolet security features of the banknotes are tested.

Addition function
Addition function

With activated addition function, the results of multiple counting operations are added. This is very useful if, for example, more banknotes than possible in one batch, are counted.

3D-Format detection
3D-Format detection

With the 3D-Format detection (width size detection) the width of the banknote is determined. This function can be used for sorting the variety of foreign banknotes in unmixed stacks or in mixed batch.

By adjusting the setting dial, the size of the coin, which should be sorted out or counted, can be specified. All coins of this size are released and the number is counted.

DD-Size detection
DD-Size detection

With the DD-size detection (height size detection) the height of the bill is determined. This function can be used for sorting the variety of foreign banknotes in unmixed stacks or in mixed batch. For Euro notes, the DD-Size detection can only be till the 100 Euro notes, because the height is equal at 100, 200 and 500 Euro notes.

The banknotes are scanned on both sides by using duplex scanner in hundredths of seconds. By comparison, almost all currencies can be counted mixed and evaluated (e.g. USD).

Error management

Through complete sentences or corresponding error codes, errors are indicated by the machine in the display and signaled with a acoustic signal. The description of the individual faults can be found in the user manual.

Non-Stop batch function (coin processing)

At the non-stop batch function all coin types can be batched without stopping (in one operation). The coins of the coin type, which have reached the batch number will be thrown back. Thus, a bundling of all types of coins are carried out in one sequence without stopping.

MG-Counterfeit detection

With the MG-Counterfeit detection the banknotes are checked on the magnetic security features. This makes the counterfeit detection possible and suspect banknotes can be identified and sorted out.

Batch function
Batch function

The batch function is used to create predefined bundles of banknotes, e.g. 100 notes. The desired batch size can be adjusted prior to counting by using the keypad. The banknote counting machine automatically interrupts by reaching the prior adjusted batch size, the counted bundle can be removed.

Hopper capacity

The hopper capacity is the maximum number of banknotes that can be counted in one transaction or find space on the banknote hopper.

The software connection enables to connect the counting machine to the PC. In this case, counting results can be transferred to the PC. With special software solutions, the counting results can be managed, stored or printed out with the computer.

Double note detection

The double note detection serves to realize more precise counting results. For this purpose the light transmission of the individual banknotes is measured. If more than one banknote is recognized (e.g. sticky notes), the counting process is automatically interrupted.

Single denomination counting
Single denomination counting

For counting unmixed notes. The machine sorts out all sort foreign banknotes or interrupts the counting process. All sorts associated banknotes will be counted.

CE-Certificate

In order to ensure safe and correct use, all machines are equipped with the CE-Certificate and the corresponding declaration of conformity.

Counting speed
Counting speed

The counting speed defines the number of coins which can be counted in one minute.

Example:
ca. 450 Coins/Min.
In this example, the machine counts about 450 coins per minute.

Power-saving mode
Power-saving mode

Thanks to the power-saving mode, not required functions such as the backlight or various sensors are switched off in the standby mode. This reduces power consumption in everyday life.

Detection of damaged banknotes
Detection of damaged banknotes

With this function, the machine is able to detect damaged banknotes (e.g., dog-ear, cracks, or missing parts). Since damaged banknotes can normally not reliably be detected, the counting process is interrupted or the affected banknotes are sorted out.

Sorting by direction and length

Function for sorting banknotes according to their direction and position (up / down and left / right).

Manual start
Manual start

With the manual start, the counting process can be started by pressing the start button. This ensures you have sufficient time to place the banknotes accordingly.

Counting speed
Counting speed

The counting speed defines the number of notes which can be counted in one minute.

Example:
800 Notes/Min.
In this example, the machine counts about 800 banknotes per minute.

Infrared-Detection
Infrared-Detection

It is a very reliable criterion in the field of counterfeit detection of banknotes. By using special infrared sensors, the characteristics by transmission or reflection are checked and compared with the target values in the software. In this way, a highly reliable detection of suspicious banknotes is possible.

VRS (Volume Reducing System)
VRS (Volume Reducing System)

Loud counting noise is reduced to a minimum by a sophisticated processing of plastic parts and use-absorbing materials inside the machine.

IMS (Intelligent Messaging System)
IMS (Intelligent Messaging System)

With this system error codes such as "feed" or "clear" belong to the past. At system messages a German sentence appears on the graphic display. Then you know the error immediately, without the hassle of looking up an error code in the manual.

The stacker capacity is the maximum number of coins that can be counted in a process or found space in the coin tray.

The device can be easily opened by its hinged-function. Thus, dirt or foreign objects, such as an office clip, can be removed more easily and quickly.

Mixed value counting
Mixed value counting

With the mixed value counting, not only the number of the checked banknotes is determined, but also their value. Example: You feed the counterfeit detector with a 50 Euro banknote. After the device has detected the banknote, the display shows the number "1" and the value "50". Any further banknote which is now being detected is added to this information.

The height of the banknotes is detected with the DD-size detection (height size detection). This function supports the sorting of suspicious banknotes whose size does not meet the standard. For Euro banknotes, the DD-size detection can only be used for up to 100 Euro notes, since the height is the same for 100, 200 and 500 Euro banknotes.

If a banknote is fed to the device, it recognizes this by its the hopper sensor. The detection process starts automatically and the banknote is pulled.

If the addition function is activated, the results of several counting processes are added. This is very helpful when more coins are counted than can be accommodated in the respective coin tray.

Single counting
Single counting

With the single counting function, each detected banknote is counted on the display. Example: You have detected five banknotes with the counterfeit detector, now a quantity of "5" is shown in the display.

Batch function
Batch function

The batch function is used to count a previously adjusted number of each coin type, e.g. 25x2€. The desired number can be adjusted via the keypad. The coin counter then automatically interrupts the counting process when the number of coins is reached. There will also be an acoustic signal and the affected coin type is shown at the display. The compartment can now be emptied and the counting process continued.

Graphical display
Graphical display

Through the use of modern graphical displays, various messages and graphics can be shown. Thus, e.g. notification messages can be shown in complete sentences or the position of a jammed banknotes can be shown in a graphic.

Mixed value counting

With the mixed value counting, mixed coins can be counted and their value can be determined. After the counting process, the machines shows the amount on its display, e.g. 464,00 Euro.

Sorting

When mixed coins are fed to the machine, the coins are sorted separately according to their type into the respective coin compartment.

Updatable
Updatable

Updatability describes the possibility to perform relevant updates (such as currency updates).

Single counting
Single counting

With the single counting function, each counted coin is counted on the display. There is no value determination. The single counting is suitable for counting pre-sorted coins.
